I migrated/copied all my fic to AO3 last summer, initially as a backup, but I've come to really like it and I use it a lot now and I actually read from there more than anywhere else now (partly because it's so easy to download and read stories on an ebook reader and I read a lot on transit so it means I read more fic, which YAY).
So, anyway, I currently have 61 fics on AO3!!! Admittedly, a bunch of them are the drabbles I wrote in December this year, and some are short little yuletide things I wrote in my non-dominant fandoms, but still that's a lot more than I was expecting. Anyway analyzing my top 10 in hitcount was interesting to me.

So last night I went to an icing party and while I was there I decorated these Doctor Who inspired cookies. Unfortunately the icing colours will limited so Ten's suit looks a bit pink.
I now present you with Donna, Rose, Martha and Ten, in cookie and icing.

The reasons for this are many and varied and will require a separate post of their own but the short version is that it's:
a)About fairy tales, which I've always loved,
b)Compelling, unpredictable, and fascinating
c)Contains one of the best ensemble casts I've seen since "The West Wing" (doesn't hurt that all of them are stunning).
d)It also doesn't hurt that Jane Espenson (Whom I've loved since my Buffy-obsession days) is one of the head writers, and it's by the creators of Lost which is another show I loved (although so far I think I'm going to end up like "Once Upon a Time" more than I liked "Lost").
Anyway, I'll have to expand on those thoughts more specifically at another time, along with my many other thoughts about this show because I actually had another reason to post about "Once Upon A Time" tonight.
So, basically I was talking to

Hmm fascinating, what I thought was going to be a post about infidelity has turned into a meta discussion about Storybrooke vs. Fairy tale land. I LOVE IT! :)
ladyfoxxx:We've all done it. That fic that you've read eleventy billion times and never actually commented on. Or maybe you only read it once but it was so good - SO fucking good that you just didn't know how to EXPRESS how good it was so you never actually commented, or you read it on your e-reader and never went back to comment, or you went back to comment and wound up re-reading it and STILL didn't comment, or it's been around forever and you kind of let yourself off the hook without commenting because there were ALREADY so many comments, surely the writer knows it's awesome, right?

Matchmaker, Matchmaker by Vash137 (BBC Sherlock, John/Sherlock)
I only discovered this fic a few weeks ago but already I've read it through 3 times. It's a delightfully funny and sweet fic in which Sherlock decides to set John up on dates because he wants him to be happy and they all go terribly awry - with hysterical results. It ultimately ends with a happy ending and this story just makes me smile.
Performance in a Leading Role by Mad_Lori (BBC Sherlock, John/Sherlock)
I left kudos on this but I don't think I actually left a comment which is shameful because this fic sent me on a big AU reading binge in which I'm still on. It's a long AU in which John and Sherlock are A-list actors working in Hollywood and they get cast in a film together and fall in love. It's really well written and engaging and was the kind of story that once I started reading, I could not put it down. The characterizations were lovely, the story moved quickly and I was eager to know what was going to happen next. It's also a story that tackles some big issues (like coming out controversially in a place like Hollywood) and handles them well.
The Blog of Eugenia Watson by Mad_Lori (BBC Sherlock, John/Sherlock)
This is such a lovely and unique story and it's a shame I didn't comment on it either because I loved it. It basically features and John and Sherlock who've been married for years and are now living next door to John's ex-wife and his 16 year old daughter. The whole story is told in blog format by John's daughter - Eugenia Watson and the story is funny, heartwarming and suspenseful. Definitely one I intend to reread.
A Winning Strategy by Jo March and Ryo Sen (West Wing, Josh/Donna)
Sadly, when I went looking for the link to this, I discovered that the site holding it seems to be gone now. Which, considering I only read it like 2 months ago is quite tragic. Really wishing I'd saved it to my computer now because it was a masterfully written series in which Donna and Josh confess their feelings to each other after Roselyn and they decide to get married to try and avoid the potential "Boss sleeping with his secretary" scandal. It's very angsty and dramatic and thing get really messy from a legal stand point but in there's a happy ending and it's an extremely good read. If I can ever track it down again I will link it.
Holy Tears by Mary (Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Amanda/Lee)
Again I don't have a link to this and I can't remember where I originally got it from (this is the problem with older fandoms I suppose) but I've got a mobi file of it if anyone is interested. This is a long and very angsty fic in which everyone thinks Amanda is dead, but she turns up with amnesia and Lee's daughter 5 years after her "death". It's an incredibly touching story, but definitely hard to read in places. Very well written.
Gosh I'm sure I'm missing some. I'm trying to think of some Doctor Who or Gilmore Girl fics I love but I think I've commented on them all. It's only more recently, since I've been reading more on AO3 that I've gotten a bit lazier about commenting. Still at some point I should do a proper rec post because there are some DELIGHTFUL and WONDERFUL fics I've read that should really be shared with the rest of the universe.

develish1 posted it on her lj and since clicking through I've watched it like 5 times already and I've got tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. So basically, everyone should go watch this. It's a parody of Season 5/6 of DW as a 90's RPG game. SO funny. Even if you didn't like S5/6 you'll probably like this.
So aside from the hilarity of condensing S5/6 plots down into the basics, things I liked about this:
- The music: I love how the person who made it took Murray Gold's sound tracks and tweaked them just enough to make them sound tinny and exactly as they should for that style of RPG
- The graphics: I'm awed at how well they captured the style of those sorts of RPG games and then created DW characters to plunk into it. HOW ADORABLE WAS CENTURIAN RORY??? Also LOL at the baby that looked like a loaf of bread.
- Also, pretty impressed by that interior TARDIS graphic at the beginning, NGL.
- I loved all the little options you had for making choices. SO funny. Especially the wedding one where it zips through and they dance. I'd love a gif of their dancing. So cute and funny.
- Love the overlay of things like "wibbly wobbly timey whimey" like that just explains everything away. *snort*
- HAHAHAHA at the massive question mark at the end. You know I'd completely forgotten about that element of the finale? Now I am reminded and my response is still to laugh hysterically. Probably not a good sign?

After the computer disaster with the tea, I was actually without my computer for over a month, which was definitely a contributing factor. Thanks to the wonderful
jenepel I did at least have access to a computer through her netbook but it wasn't the best for checking lj and once I got behind, well, catching up was a bit daunting. So now, here I am, 2 months behind and finally delving in. There's no way I will have time to go back and read 2 full months of posts so, for the most part, I'm going to start fresh. However, I don't want to have missed anything spectacular that anyone has posted since then so if there's a personal post you've made in the past few months that you'd like me to see or a fic or other fannish thing you've posted that you think I'd like, PLEASE help me find it by sending me a link to it either in the comments to this post or by PM.
Obviously this means I've also missed all the MAAN, Sherlock and DW Christmas Special etc stuff so if you've read something amazing relating to any of those things that you think I'd like, please link me!
There are some life updatey things I should post soon as well as my now, long since posted Yuletide fic and things like that so expect to hear from me again soon.

This time it was over who should sit next to whom. The ensuing shouting had summoned the Dean who was now ordering people to sit. Annie was the first to obey, mainly because she was tired of all the fighting though she took advantage of the chaos to make sure she was positioned next to Jeff. Jeff gave in next, his arm brushing Annie’s as he sat. Annie smiled, it was a small victory, but she’d take it.

Chris and her sister Sam looked across the kitchen island at their grandmother as she gave the next instruction. She was teaching them how to make apple pie but so far, it wasn’t going particularly well. Sam had knocked half a bag of flour onto the floor, and Chris had added salt instead of sugar. They’d finally made the dough and it was Chris’s turn to try rolling it out. She set the rolling pin on the dough and pressed forward until it stretched so thin it broke. Chris sighed. There was nothing for it; she simply wasn’t baker material.

Tossing the dictionary to the floor with force, Tessa turned back to her computer. She stared at the flashing cursor as she tried to figure out how to begin. Finally, she typed a sentence, cringed, and promptly deleted it. Pressing her forehead to the desk, Tessa mentally cursed her psychology professor for giving her ‘necrophilia’ as a topic.

The clouds drifting past were shaped oddly and he enjoyed watching them for a moment before he noticed something unusual about the one to his left. He suddenly sprang to his feet, shouting excitedly as he clamoured over to the others.
“Ahoy! The good omen has come, we must catch it!”
The crew raced on deck and the cloud chasing began.

The first time she spotted him he was carrying an irregular shaped, gilded lamp. He noticed her, flashed her a bright smile and waved at her.
Blushing, Sybil quickly looked away and hurried home, feeling only the tiniest tinge of guilt.
The second time they met was actually quite fortuitous. She’d been up on a ladder, hanging decorations for the Woman’s League fundraiser when her foot slipped and she’d started to plummet toward the ground. He came out of nowhere, his strong arms supporting her effortlessly as she slowly regained her footing, her breath and her senses before rushing away.

The meteoric landing made an impact and Steggy immediately verified that it was safe for them to disembark. As soon as the signal was given the rescue team sprang into action. Within 20 minutes they’d rounded up every specimen and loaded them into the massive ship. T. Ran. restarted the engines; they were finally bringing their family home.

Resolved, he vowed to himself that he’d fulfil his parental duty to keep her safe; he'd bring his baby home.

Most of all though, he envied her strength to carry on against all odds.
